To submit a story
To submit a story, click the Submit story' link in the Tools sidebar. Most stories are considered News, so choose “News” from the first drop-down menu (choose “Events” if you are writing a story about an event). Choose a Topic which best fits your story (generally the topic should reflect the region of the world the story is discussing), and select “Autoformat” in the last drop-down menu. Create a title for your story and use the “intro” field to write the first few sentences or first paragraph of your story (this will appear along with the title of your story when people browse through stories). Write your full story in the “body” field, and click “Preview” to see how your story will appear. Please be sure to read through your story and make any changes or corrections before you hit the “Submit” button.
Stories may also include a poll. To create a poll, fill in the fields below the “body” field below the story you are writing. You must include a question and at least two different answers.
Stories are posted once they have been reviewed and approved by LIL staff.
Additional comments about posting stories:
Copying complete copyrighted articles without permission from the copyright holder is prohibited.
Hotlinking images without permission from the image’s owner is prohibited. (Hotlinking means using the [img src] tag to display an image that is hosted on someone else's server).
Do not post stories which contain hateful or defamatory writing. Use this site as a tool to call to action other activists; give people ideas for ways to get involved in a proactive and effective way.
To Edit a story
You can edit your story after it has been posted by clicking on the 'Edit' link just underneath the title. This will display your story on a page that is similar to the New Story screen, except that the existing text of the story has already been filled in. Make the desired edits, click “Preview” to double check your work, and then click the 'Update' button to post your edited story.
